Baking maps in Blender

About

IfThis youpage wishhas been updated to bakeuse the plugin PAWS: Bakery

Installation

Open Blender Go to Edit/Preferences/Get Extensions. Enable Online Access if instructed Search for PAWS: Bakery and click install

    How To Use

In this example, I'll show how to create a Material ID map. I'm assuming your model has 1 material.

Save your project. (the plugin won't work properly otherwise) Create (temporary) new materials with different colors, like red, blue, green, etc. Assign these materials to different faces of your mesh. These colors represent the different surface areas on the material IDs,ID, orlike wood, stone, metal, etc. Press N on your keyboard and choose PAWSBKR In Simple Mode (default), set Size (2048 for example), set the Type (Material ID, although Color(Emit) is okay too), and any other typesettings you need. Press BAKE SELECTED Navigate to your project folder and find the material ID along with any other maps you baked Delete the temporary materials you created when baking

      Other Tools

TexTools (community fork from the original)

BakeMaster (requires an older version of bakingBlender) (similar- to what Substance Painter does) I recommend my favorite Blender plugin: BakeMaster.

If you wish to bake just material IDs without a plugin, that guide is below as well.

Textools was my previous favorite but for now it only works up through Blender 3.2 although some contributors have forked the project to make it work with newer versions.

      Requirements

For SU students, students BakeMaster can be downloaded here.

Most of these baking tools make use of Blender's Cycles engine (not EEVEE).only
